5 Free Online Tools you can use as a Virtual Assistant

Are you employed in a corporate setting and want to switch careers as virtual assistant? Want to showcase your work online? Making your presence online can be a daunting task especially when you are just starting up. It’s really hard to make a decision on what online business tools to use when you are just testing waters.
1. Wix
Wix is a website builder that is offering free plan for website building. I don’t personally recommend free website however since this is only for showcasing your work might as well use a free one.
One of the qualification of a virtual assistant that some clients are looking for is content creation. If you are like me who don’t have any creative juices and coding skills, Wix is offering free website templates on any niches you’re pursuing. The templates wix offering is completely editable. You can put image, you can edit text, you can even change colors. Basically, you can do whatever you like with your design.
You can actually try other platforms like Wordpress, Blogger and others.
2. Canva
Aside from content creation, another service that you can offer as a virtual assistant is basic graphic design and social media management.
According to Wikipedia, Canva is a graphic-design tool website, founded in 2012. It uses a drag-and-drop format and provides access to over a million photographs, graphics, and fonts. It is used by non-designers as well as professionals. I’m using Canva in creating my logo and other social media content. As an aspiring virtual assistant, I recommend you to use canva to improve your content in your blog by adding photos and also for social media content.
Canva has a lot of photos they have the paid ones but there are a lot of free ones which you can edit. Just like in Wix, you can do whatever you like in the photos.
3. Hootsuite
Nowadays, all e-commerce websites have social media pages whether its facebook, twitter, or instagram. As a virtual assistant your client might ask you to post in specific time of the day/week. If you are like me who planned ahead for better task organization, then Hootsuite is for you.
Hootsuite is a social media manager and virtual assistants best friend, this is a tool wherein you can schedule all your social media post. I use it for my instagram and twitter since facebook page has scheduling feature as well. This online free tool, is a big help especially when you want to planned your post ahead of time.
You might want to concentrate on the contents you put on your website or you have something else to do but you want to have a post on that day this tool is your best friend.
4. Mailchimp
Is your client plans to have an introductory offer or an upcoming sale? Aside from posting it in your social media pages, you might want to send an announcement via email. As a virtual assistant your client will rely on you on sending out the email to each potential customer. So how does mailchimp help?
Mailchimp is a marketing automation platform and an email marketing service. Mailchimp is an online tool wherein you can send your email to several customer in one go. This is a free tool wherein you can create your first business email to send in to your customers. Just like wix and canva, mailchimp provide sample and completely editable lay out for your email marketing content.
5. Google Adwords Keyword Planner
Some of the virtual assistant jobs that you might find has everything to do with SEO. Search Engine Optimization or SEO is a methodology wherein your increasing your page rank in google or other search engine sites to reach out to more audience. One of the methods you can improve your website is keywords. Why you need keyword tool? Keywords or key phrases are very important for your website if you want to appear on google search. When you are building your online website, you need to do all the free marketing that is available to you. Appearing on the first page of google is very vital on your website the first thing you need to know is what keywords or key phrases you might want to incorporate to your content.
So how do you know what keywords to use? Google Adwords Keyword Planner is an online free tool wherein you can search your idea for example you want to start selling plus size women jeans. Now you will search the key phrase “Plus Size Women’s Jeans” on google keyword planner and this online free tool will present you other key phrases that other people search connecting the phrase you’ve entered. Aside from keywords the tool will present you data like how many times the word is search through google or if the competition is high or medium or low.
So there you have it here are the online free tools you can use as a Virtual Assistant. It is not a requirement to use them all. You can also do your research if this tools can really help you (I’m pretty sure they are :)).
